Kroger to Enter Northeast with Ocado Fueled Deliveries

Kroger has announced plans to make its first entry into the Northeast through its Ocado partnership. The supermarket chain plans to start Kroger Delivery online grocery service in the Northeast by building an Ocado-powered automated customer fulfillment center for same-day and next-day deliveries. Kroger also announced plans to open two centers each in California and Florida.

Currently Kroger does not operate any brick-and-mortar stores in the Northeast but does have stores in California and Florida. Kroger did not specify locations or sizes for the planned fulfillment centers in any of the states. With Kroger Delivery, Kroger has doubled its household penetration since 2019 and Kroger reports it has 2,239 pickup sites and 2,546 delivery locations as of the end of its latest quarter. Kroger’s online sales have also grown with the company reporting an increase of 114% in sales over the past two years.
